1. Introduction

ChordsLib takes your privacy seriously. This privacy policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our website chordslib.com.

2. What Data We Collect

ChordsLib does not require registration or login. We collect minimal data to operate the website:

  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and access time via server logs (for operations and security)
  • Contact form data: If you contact us, we collect the information you submit (such as your email address and message) so we can respond.
  • Spam and abuse prevention: When you use forms, we may use Cloudflare Turnstile to help protect the site from automated abuse. Turnstile may process technical data such as your IP address and browser/device signals to assess whether a request is likely to be from a human.
  • Analytics: We use Vercel Analytics to understand how visitors use our website. This service collects anonymized usage data without using cookies or tracking personal information.
  • Cookies: We currently do not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Essential cookies or similar technologies may be used only to ensure the website functions properly and to help protect forms from abuse.

3. Guitar tuner and microphone access

Our online guitar tuner uses your device’s microphone to detect pitch in real time. Here is how it works and what happens to the sound:

  • Where is the sound processed? All processing takes place only on your device, in your browser. We use the Web Audio API to read the microphone signal and run pitch detection (frequency analysis) locally. No audio is sent to our servers or any other server.
  • Is anything sent to the server? No. The microphone signal is never uploaded, streamed, or transmitted. Only you hear the sound; our systems do not receive or store it.
  • Is anything recorded or stored? No. We do not record or save any audio. The tuner uses short snippets of the live signal only to compute the current pitch (e.g. note and cents). That data is shown on screen and is not stored or sent anywhere.
  • How long is the microphone in use? The microphone is active only while the tuner is running—from when you click to start until you click stop or leave the tuner page. As soon as you stop or navigate away, the microphone access is released and no further processing takes place.
  • Can I turn it off? Yes. You can stop the tuner at any time to stop using the microphone. You can also revoke microphone access in your browser settings for this site.

Use of the tuner is optional. If you do not start the tuner, the site never requests or uses your microphone.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Vercel (hosting and analytics): Our website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel Analytics collects anonymized usage data. See Vercel's privacy policy for more information.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile (spam and abuse prevention): We use Cloudflare Turnstile on our forms to reduce spam and automated abuse. Turnstile may process technical data (such as IP address and browser/device signals) to verify whether a request is likely to be from a human. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for more information.
  • EmailJS (sending contact form emails): When you submit our contact form, we may use EmailJS to send your message to us. This means your submitted form data (such as email address and message content) is processed for the purpose of delivering the email. See EmailJS's privacy policy for more information.

5. Purpose of Processing

If you contact us, we retain the information you submit only as long as necessary to respond and handle any follow-up. Data processed for spam and abuse prevention is used for security purposes and is retained in accordance with the relevant service providers’ practices.
